- After the divorce of her parents, Madeline was sent to a boarding school.
Madeline's husband, Lou, had a disabling stroke somewhat young. At various times, this family lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, San Diego (in 1967), and then back to Indianapolis. In her adult years, Madeline was always overweight, but had a very cheerful temperment, and a very sharp mind. She was quite a card shark. Madeline died around 1985 within three months of discovering she had cancer throughout her body.
After her death, both Madeline's husband, Lou, and her son, Michael, failed to maintain any contact with any family, even failing to show up for the funeral of Michael's grandmother, Alice Nagel.
