He did, I {Judith Olsen} believe marry. Elizabeth Burton (nee Edwin) thought she had a solid lead, and tried to make contact but got no response. The name is prolific in South America: there is a Santa Cruz in - Argentina (a province), Brazil (district near Rio de Janeiro), Chile (a province) and Bolivia (a city).
