Notes |
- Larry attended South Park High School, and was in many dramatic plays
held there. Larry played one of the three wise men in the annual
Christmas pageant. He was also a good speaker, being an MC for various
performances. He was very religious.
Larry and Mary were married by Father Baker at Our Lady of Victory
Basilica, in his rooms beneath the church.
Larry was a police motorcycle detective for Buffalo, and in the later
years a patrolman who walked the beat around South Park Avenue, the
neighborhood in which he grew up. They lived on Verona Street, in a
four-family building.
Upon Larry's death in May, 1985, the Buffalo News printed a large
obituary. During his years as a detective in the 1920s and 30s, Larry
had guarded many dignitaries who visited Buffalo.
Mary Agnes Sheehan, born 5 August, 1905, was an only child, and lost her
mother in the 1913/1914 Flu Epidemic or in 1919 due to Black Plague.
Joan Cuthbert, Mary's daughter, relates that it was thought that Mary's
mother was actually buried alive. He coffin had been reopened, and it
appeared the mother had struggled to get out. Mary Agnes was a very
jolly person, who helped make many parties lots of fun. She died 1
February, 1989. Both Larry and Mary are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery,
Lackawanna.
Mary Agnes' maternal grandparents, John Morrisey and Bridget Houlihan,
were both born in County Kerry, Ireland. John ran off to Australia, and
left Bridget running a boarding house in Dunkirk.
