Before moving to Tempe, Arizona, Ken worked construction. The family moved in the late 1970s to help Paula's arthritus. Ken Dollar worked as a foreman at a Tucson mining company.
Paula loves babies, and worked for a number of years in the nursery of a golf clubhouse. She often watched others' children while they go on vacation. Occasionally, Paula is taken along on the vacation. She also helped raise many of her grandchildren.
