  • Notes
    • Their are a couple of stories about Joseph and his father Aloius Bauer in the book Pioneers of Marion County. They were among the first to arrive in Marion county after the Indians left. They were smart enough to build a mill before winter, and were able to keep several people from starving during the first winter. The book used to be available at the Historical Society of Iowa.
