Dec 27 1814 [Died] Melancholy Accident – Mrs. McLaughlin, of Ballyfatten, an aged woman, returning from this town on Saturday evening last, passing through a meadow Field, convenient to her own house, in attempting to step over a small drain, unfortunately fell on her face, and her hands being wrapped in her Cloak, was suffocated before she was discovered (Strabane Morning Post)
Aug 12 1828 [Died] SUDDEN DEATH – On Saturday morning last, as James McLaughlin, one of the Revenue Police, stationed at Derg-bridge, was in the act of Still-hunting with the rest of his party, on the mountains of Killeter, the unfortunate man dropped dead on the spot; and we are sorry to say, has left a wife and large family, to deplore his loss (Strabane Morning Post)
