January 7 1870 | Melancholy Accident on Christmas Day: A respectable young man, named Lipsett, who had been engaged in a business house in Ballyshannon, was home at Cashel, five miles from town to spend his Christmas with his family, and was out shooting with others on the day. He was carrying his gun under his arm, butt foremost, which was, by some movement, pitched forwards, went off, and lodged the whole charge in the back of his own leg, and he died from loss of blood, while the doctor was procuring instruments to administer relief (Tyrone Constitution) |
