PARISH OF DONAGHEDDY
Tuesday, January 6, 1824
At a meeting of the Landholders of the Parish of Donagheddy, pursuant to public notice, by the Church Wardens of said Parish, for the purpose of taking into consideration the propriety of petitioning Parliament for a Revision of the late Tithe Act, held this first day of January, 1824. Samuel Jack, Esq. of Lisnarrow, in the Chair. Resolved unanimously, that both houses of Parliament be petitioned in due time - that our Petition to the House of Lords be presented by the Earl of Aberdeen - and that our Petition to the House of Commons be presented by the Right Hon. Sir John Stewart, Bart. Resolved, that a Committee be appointed, consisting of our Chairman, and the five undernamed Parishioners, to draw out our Petition, and they are hereby authorised to employ some professional Gentlemen to assist them therein: and our instructions to them are, to frame our Petition in the most respectful manner, and worded so as not to give offence; but at the same time strongly to express our apprehensions of the evil consequences that may result from the Act, if ever made compulsory. Mr. Jack having left the Chair, and Robt. McCrea, Esq. being called thereto, Resolved, That the Thanks of the Meeting be given to Mr. Jack, for his proper conduct in the Chair. The Committee to consist of the following Landholders:
