A Bleach Green in Co. Down
TO ROBERT COCHRAN, OF STRABANE, Esq.,
We, the undersigned LINEN MERCHANTS, who attend the Markets of Strabane and Newtownstewart, and the BLEACHERS of the Counties of Londonderry, Tyrone and Donegal, have heard with a great deal of surprize, and regret, of your dismissal from the Office of Linen Inspector by the Honourable the Linen Board.
We have on several occasions expressed the high opinion we entertained of your conduct in the execution of your Office, and of the regularity of our Markets under your care, and of your indefatigable exertions for the advancement of the Linen Trade – and we take this opportunity of again stating our approval of your merit.
As a further proof of our estimation, we beg leave to present you with a Silver Cup, with a suitable engraving thereon, expressive of the cause of presentation, and our feeling on the occasion
In the meantime, we take our leave, with our warmest wishes for your prosperity, hope ere long your country may again benefit by your abilities in an official capacity of equal or greater importance than the situation you formerly held.
Being respectfully,
Your most obedient Servants,
Dated this 15th December, 1812
