DEDICATION BY THE LORD BISHOP
An impressive service in memory of the soldiers who fell in the great war was held in Carrigans Church on Sunday morning..…………Morning Prayer was read by the rector, Rev.C. R. Thompson. The special Lessons were read by Captain Miller, Milltown Lodge. Mr. James Irwin, rector’s churchwarden requested the Lord Bishop, on behalf of the congregation, to unveil and dedicate a brass communion rail in memory of the seven gallant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice. During the dedication service Major R. L. Moore, Molenan, and Captain Miller stood on the chancel steps on either side of the new communion rail.
The Lord Bishop read the names of the fallen, as follows:-

The Lord Bishop preached a most impressive and deeply sympathetic sermon to a very large congregation, and in the course of his address made touching references to the soldiers who had safely returned and those who had fallen in battle.
The offertory was taken up by Sergeant-Major W. J. Montgomery and Sergeant A. Roulstone, ex-soldiers, who had served at the front, and was devoted to the maintenance of the Homes for Blinded Soldiers. Two buglers from Ebrington barracks, members of the Dorsetshire Regiment sounded the “Last Post”. The musical portion of the service was very efficiently conducted by Mrs. Irwin who presided at the organ.
