“His Royal Highness the Prince Regent’s County of Dublin Regiment, The 100th Regiment of Foot. Raised in Ireland for service in Canada, men of this Irish fighting unit guarded the frontier[of Canada] from 1806-1812 and fought valiantly throughout the war with the United States. Many of them chose to remain in Canada afterwards, some to pioneer the development of Goulbourn Township, now part of the city of Ottawa, Canada’s capital.” Source: Introduction

In May 1804, Frederick John Falkiner, Esq of southern Fingal, Co. Derry was authorized to raise an army of 1,000 soldiers.
