STRABANE FARMING SOCIETY

The annual inspection of grain, crops of the Strabane Farming Society took place on the 24th, 25th and 26th September and the prizes were awarded as underneath viz.

TURNIPS:

1st Robert McCrea, Grange [Donagheady, Co. Tyrone]

2nd Thomas Barnhill, Backfence [Leckpatrick, Co. Tyrone]

3rd William Hamilton, Coolaghy [Raphoe, Co. Donegal]

4th Rev. Mr. Hanson, Coolaghymore [Taughboyne, Co. Donegal]

5th John McGettigan, Drumgauty [Donagheady, Co. Tyrone]

 

FENCES:

The Judges, in their rounds visited Baronscourt, and were extremely gratified in viewing Mr. Knox’s improvements there, particularly his excellent and handsome fences, his large crop of turnips, and weighty crop of grain. He is land-steward to the Most Noble the Marquis of Abercorn.
