Clady congregation seems to have been erected in 1741, the first minister being REV. ALEXANDER MILLER (emigrated to America and settled at Cook’s Creek, Va.) whose successors were REV. WILLIAM CALLENDER, REV. THOMAS KERNAGHAN and REV. JAMES BUDD. Following Mr. Budd’s retirement, the congregation was annexed to 1st Ardstraw Presbyterian Church in 1888.
The now demolished meetinghouse was situated in Clady Blair townland.
Surviving records of this congregation have been microfilmed by the staff of PRONI, Belfast where they may be consulted: Baptisms nil; Marriages 1845-71 (PRONI Ref. MIC.1P/50
The condition of the original records, a degree of difficulty in discerning the handwriting and quality of filming make transcription challenging and wherever possible the Ardstraw tithe applotment books (1833-4) and Griffiths Valuation (1858) have been consulted in an attempt to confirm families and townland addresses. Original spelling has been retained.
