Comments: Hi. I’ve been trying to find out more about my family history. I have been unable to trace any further back than my 2x great grandparents. William Lockhart was born about 1785 in Dooragh, County Tyrone and his wife Margaret Lockhart née Best in about 1795 in Dooragh, County Tyrone. They emigrated to Australia with their children in 1841 on the vessel “Cadet”. William died at “Mountain Run” Bathurst, NSW, Australia in September 1861 and Margaret died at “Mountain Run”, Bathurst NSW, Australia in August 1859. I know William’s parents were James and Mary from William’s death certificate and Margaret’s parents were George Best and Mary Carter from Margaret’s death certificate. Any information would be very appreciated. Thank you to the volunteers Denise

Comments: I am very impressed with the content and ease to search your site. I was looking for Rathfield and also Sproule which I somehow have the Burial receipt and funeral supply from Samuel Gailey Castlederg, also a receipt from Dr John Crockett, all dated 1940 and are reference to the late William James Sproule ! I am curious to learn of a possible connection, but as of now I have no idea why they are in my Rathfield families documents ? Query / Question / Information / most welcome. Yours Sincerely Richard Rathfield

Comments: I am searching for ancestral records for Mary Ann Woodburn (c 1827-1846). She was born in Garvagh, Derry and died in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I think her father was James Woodburn (1792-1869) and Martha Mayne (c1808-1879). All appear to have been born in Garvagh. So many in the family have the same first names that I am getting confused. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have not found them here, or I don't think so. I am pretty sure they were affiliated with the First Garvagh Presbyterian church. Thank you for your time.

Comments: I've been trying to find out more about my family history, I am only able to look at the census of 1911 which shows my Great Great Grandfather William R Sharkey from Lisfearty (Clananeese, Tyrone). Is there anywhere that I can find out who his father was and take a look further back?

Comments: Hi everyone, my ancestor was John Brown, from the Oughtdoorish townland, born around 1832. I think his father was Hugh (or psosibly Patrick) and his mother was Margaret (nee Murphy), but as records are scarce much of this is supposition and not documented. Based on his Australian records, I think John may have served as a policeman for a while in Tyrone (or elsewhere in Ireland) before he emigrated to Australia in the 1850s, with his brother Patrick. They both ended up in Victoria, John in Melbourne (as a policeman) and Patrick in Sunbury (as a publican).
