Comments: A story written in 1896 says that my ancestors William McBride and Jane (Janet) Law left Ireland around 1768 already married with one daughter, traveling to South Carolina to meet their old close friends Robert and Mary Dorris Thompson who had left a few years earlier. Information from an obituary states that the son of Robert and Mary Thompson (Archibald, born 3 Sep 1760) and the daughter of William and Jane McBride (Mary or Mollie, born about 1766) were natives of County Tyrone. The story tells that these families were part of a migration from Scotland to Ireland years earlier. These McBrides and Thompsons were Presbyterians and long time intimate friends. I don't even know if it is possible to find any information in Ireland that far back. William McBride's father was possibly named Thomas or John, due to family naming patterns. I hope to explore this some day.

Comments: I am trying to find more information on my ancestor Bernard Woods. He was born in Clogher Co. Tyrone in about 1812. He emigrated to England and married Mary Haskey in Warwick, England in 1834 and lived in the area until his death in 1874. Can anyone help in tracing Bernards parents and siblings.

Comments: My 2nd great-grandfather was Bernard McGurk, born in 1810; married in 1836 to Ann Devlin in Gortreagh; had my great-grandfather, Charles. in 1841; died in 1865 in Cookstown.
I'm unable to find anything about his parents. Lots of Bernards but can't find mine!
All help will be much appreciated.
He is not to be confused with the convict Bernard born in 1811 and transported to Australia in 1849. Although he is an interesting subject I am spending too much time on!

Comments: This is a bit of a long shot but about 12 years ago I saw records associated with the Madill's in and around Drum and Aghabog in Monaghan. They might be labelled simply Clones. These were records transcribed by a daughter in Law of the minister in Gavargh. Her name was Eleanor Olive Madill nee MacArthur. She was from Edinburgh and she had been in communication with others in my family line in the 70's. I cannot find the information contained in these records online and I was wondering if you had any clue to there whereabouts. Thank you.
