St Michael’s Church of Ireland was built in 1788, closer to the village of Donemana, in the townland of Benowen. The previous church had been in the townland of Churchill, where the Old Donagheady Graveyard is located. The final service to be held in St Michael’s was on 23 November 1879 and the preacher was the Rector, Rev. F J Clarke.
