A Tribute To: OUR GRANDPARENTS AND PARENTS, [PIONEERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF INNISFIL]

Wilson Latimer and his wife Esther Wilson were born in Castle Ganefield [unable to locate??], County Tyrone, Ireland in 1816 and 1827 respectively. They came to this country in 1847 on a sailing vessel, which took eleven weeks to make the voyage, settling on the north half of lot 18 concession 9, Innisfil Twp., [Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada], which at that time was in the midst of a forest.

On their farm, the village of Bramley grew up, and on which was situated the Grand Trunk Railway station, near Craigvale. They lived on this farm and survived many hardships until their deaths in 1893 and 1906.

In 1851 their only child William Latimer was born who in 1878 married Katherine Henderson and both continued to live here until their deaths in 1923 - 1933. During his lifetime the father always took a very active interest in municipal and school affairs, and was a charter member and past master of Minerva Lodge AF and AM and Prince of Wales L. 0. L.
