ADDRESS TO ROBERT FAUSSETT, Esq., LATE SUB-INSPECTOR OF RAPHOE CONSTABULARY
We, the undersigned Inhabitants of Raphoe and its vicinity, cannot see the time of your departure drawing nigh without our full expression of the very great satisfaction which has been derived from the efficient and orderly conduct exhibited by the Constabulary during the Five Years that has been under your command – an efficiency and good conduct which your excellent example could hardly fail of inspiring; nor can we see the removal of yourself and family from amongst us without giving our expression to our deep and sincere regret. As the transferring of your service from this to another Station is only in the course of ordinary duties, we have no other cause of complaint than is incidental to every species of military life, while, on the other hand, we have every hope that the more generally your disposition and character become known, the more probable that it will be that a higher step in your profession shall be awarded you. As w, therefore, bid you and your amiable family farewell, we feel that we ought not to regret too deeply what after all may be for your future advancement. Our kindness and best wishes go with you.
