DONEGAL QUARTER SESSIONS

The following persons were convicted at LIFFORD SESSIONS, and awarded the punishments annexed:

SARAH McDAID

Assault and rescue to be imprisoned for six months

SARAH DOHERTY

For like offence, to be imprisoned three weeks

FRANCIS McCAY

For stealing yarn, to be imprisoned six months

JOHN HART &

MARY HART

Obtaining goods under false pretences, the former to be imprisoned for two months, and the latter one month

DANIEL SWEENEY

For a severe assault, to be imprisoned for nine months

CHARLES KEARNEY &

MICHAEL KEARNEY &

JOHN KEARNEY

Assault and rescue, to be imprisoned one week

WILLIAM JACKSON, Sen. &

WILLIAM JACKSON, Jun. &

REBECCA JACKSON &

JANE STEEL

Who lived in the neighbourhood of Carrigans, and have committed depredations in that vicinity for many years, were sentenced by the Assistant-Barrister, at the above Sessions, to seven years transportation each. This gang, which had been a terror to the neighbourhood, thus have met a deserved punishment, owing much to the exertion of ROBERT McCLINTOCK, of Dunmore, Esq., in bringing their many delinquencies to light, through the information obtained by him from a former accomplice
