Extracted from numerous LDS FHL films of Civil Registration of Marriages in Ireland and IrishGenealogy.ie where copies of the original certificates may be downloaded at no cost

The condition of the original records and the quality of filming make transcription challenging and at times difficult. Where possible, the Inch tithe applotment book (1837) and Griffiths Valuation (c1858) have been consulted for confirmation of families and townland addresses. Original spelling has been retained.

The Presbyterians of Inch Island, Co. Donegal, originally belonged to Burt congregation, but their island situation made it difficult to get regularly to worship on the mainland; it was even dangerous because of the tides. They were eventually formed into a separate charge within the Derry Presbytery in 1831, and they called Mr. Samuel Armour (lic. Belfast), as their first minister. He was ordained on 5 March 1833 and died on 11 June 1852. His successor, Mr. James Anderson (lic. Derry) was ordained on 22 Sept. 1852 and the congregation consisted of 22 families. Mr. Anderson died on 10 Nov. 1895; a man warm in his friendship and kindly in disposition. In 1896 the congregation was united with Fahan under the Rev. James McBride……………… (History of Congregations in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland 1610-1982 (PHSI, Belfast, 1982)
