Earliest surviving records for Crossroad Presbyterian Church have been microfilmed by the staff of PRONI (Public Record Office of Northern Ireland), Belfast, where they are available for consultation:
Baptisms, 1821-1979; marriages, 1832-1924; list of seat holders 1832; pew rents 1829
PRONI Ref: MIC1P/242; CR3/29
Crossroads congregation (known from 1878 as Mountjoy) has its origins in 1789 when a supplication to the Synod of Ulster was received from the Protestant Dissenters of Cappagh requesting the services of a clergyman; the first minister was James McClintock who was ordained in 1791.
The condition of the original records, a degree of difficulty in discerning the handwriting and quality of filming, make transcription challenging and where possible, the Cappagh tithe applotment book (1827) and Griffiths Valuation (1858) have been consulted for confirmation of families and townland addresses
