On the 7th instant, at her son’s house, Mount Barnard, county of Tyrone, Mrs. Hamilton, relict of the late Thomas Hamilton, Esq. of Mulnagore Lodge, Dungannon, aged sixty-nine, deservedly regretted by all who knew her, as having fulfilled the relative duties of daughter, wife, mother, and friend, in an exemplary manner (Strabane Morning Post)

SPROULL. Yesterday morning, Robert Sproull, Esq. Inchany. This young man so suddenly removed by the bitter shaft of death, was distinguished by that urbanny of manner, cheerfulness of disposition, and those inner feelings of our nature which interest and delight.

December 16 1828 DOHERTY. Thursday morning the body of Charles Doherty of Alt [Co Donegal], in the parish of Urney (who had been missing since the preceding Tuesday) was found in a drain, in a field at the Bridge-end [Strabane]. A Coroner’s Inquest was held on the body the same day, and it appearing from the testimony of some witnesses, that he was seen on Tuesday evening, rather intoxicated, the Jury brought in a verdict of Accidental Death (Strabane Morning Post)

He had gone to Ulverston for the benefit of his health, where he remained till his decease, by which melancholy occurrence, an amiable wife and family are left to deplore his loss. March 8 1834 HUGHES. At Greenfield, near Strabane, on the morning of the 2nd ult., Elizabeth, wife of Samuel Hughes, Esq., in the 43rd year of her age. Seldom have the mysterious dispensations of an Almighty Providence been more intensely felt, by an inconsolable husband and afflicted family, and a wide circle of deploring friends, by whom she has long been sincerely esteemed. There was, however, one ray of consolation which that dark cloud of death cannot intercept, she having entered the eternal world in the brightness of that faith in Christ, which alike bids defiance to the sting of death or the victory of the grave. James Jones, Rector of the parish of Urney, in this diocese, and father of Captain Jones, M.P., for this County. October 11 1876 FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR STRABANE. On Monday evening a sad accident occurred near Sion Mills. Miss Lowry, only daughter of Mr. Marshall Lowry, Edenmore [Co. Donegal] , while on a visit to Miss Oliphant, of Carricklee, went with that lady to visit another friend seated on a cart, when by an accident, the horse started and the cart upset, throwing Miss Lowry off and killing her almost instantaneously. Miss Oliphant was also much hurt. An inquest will be held to-morrow at Sion Mills. (Londonderry Journal)
