DEATH OF MR. JAMES M. STEVENSON Many of our readers will learn with sincere regret of the death of Mr. James M. Stevenson, auctioneer, which took place somewhat suddenly at his residence, Killyclooney, Burndennett, on Wednesday. Deceased, who has passed away at a comparatively early age, was a member of an old and much-respected Londonderry family. He was married only three years ago, and leaves a widow and one child, with whom there will be deep sympathy. For a length of time deceased was in delicate health, but not withstanding, he was of a most industrious disposition, and was actively engaged in business matters within a few days of his decease. At an early period of life he was in business in the city with a leading firm, where his agreeable disposition gained for him host of friends. Subsequently he started the auctioneering business in Foyle-street. He also held the position of rate-collector in North Tyrone. With the farming community and others with whom came in contact his integrity and genial, courteous demeanour gained for him esteem. The interment took place yesterday in Grange burying-ground and was largely attended (Londonderry Sentinel) |

GRANGE BURIAL GROUND: MEETINGS CALLED REGARDING CONCERNS AT ITS NEGLECTED CONDITION 1890-1
A meeting of residents of the district was called for 4.00pm, September 29, 1891 in Grange Schoolhouse, for discussion of the neglected state of the graveyard and procedures for putting it into decent order and procuring funding for on-going maintenance and a caretaker.
Meeting chaired by Mr. Robert McCrea, coroner
Amongst those present Rev. Robert Frizzell, Messrs. William McCrea, Leck; William Smith, Altrest; William Woods, Collermoney; Jas. Clarke, Lisdiven; William J. Armstrong; John Clarke, Inchaney; Robert McCrea; Robert Watson, Derry; Victor Love, P. L. G., Joseph McCrea, John Love; William Stevenson &c.
The meeting was not largely attended and the Chairman supposed that if people had been given longer notice (only seven days was allowed) and when the harvest was over, there would have been a much larger attendance
A motion was proposed to approach the Strabane Board of Guardians and passed unanimously
Committee appointed: Messrs. Robert McCrea, William John Armstrong, Victor Love, William Stevenson, Joseph McCrea, James Clarke (Lisdivin), Robert Watson, Robert Scott, Hugh Smith (Rusky), William Smith and James Love
