View of Strabane from Scenery of Ireland; J. Fisher (1795)
A short run of the Strabane (Co. Tyrone) Journal dates from May 2, 1785 to April 30, 1787 and March 2, 1801. It can be consulted in the Linenhall Library and is in a rather fragile condition. This weekly newspaper deals mostly with news from London, Dublin and America and only a very small part is devoted to local news. This consists of some advertisements and occasional deaths and marriages. In extracting these I have confined myself to the factual details except in circumstances of particular interest. At least a third of these entries relate to Co Donegal.
