August 17 1891 FUNERAL OF MR. JOSEPH THOMPSON. – The remains of the late Mr. Joseph Thompson were removed from his late residence, Moneycannon, Donemanagh, for interment in Old Donagheady Burying-ground on Thursday amid many indications of deep sorrow and regret. Deceased was very popular in the district, and the large number of friends and acquaintances who assembled to pay the last respect to his memory indicated how greatly he was respected by those amongst he had lived to a good old age. Deceased was father to our respected fellow-citizen, Mr. J. P. Thompson, Ferry-quay-street [Londonderry], whose many friends in Derry will heartily sympathise with him and his father’s family in their bereavement (Derry Journal)

December 3 1904 DEATH OF MRS McCREA, CASTLEMELLON. – To-day we announce the death of an old county Tyrone resident in the person of Mrs William McCrea, who died at her residence, Castlemellon, near Donemana. Deceased for the past fifty years conducted a flourishing retail business, surviving her husband for over twenty-two years. By her geniality and kindly disposition she earned the respect of all creeds and classes in the district. She lived to the ripe old age of ninety years. She retired some few years to to enjoy a well-earned rest, leaving the conducting of the business to her son, Mr. James McCrea. The interment takes place on Monday in Donagheady Old Burying-ground. FUNERAL OF MRS McFARLAND, AUGHAFAD

Yesterday the remains of this estimable lady [Mary Ann], widow of the late William McFarland, Aughafad, Donemana, were interred in Donagheady Old Burying-ground, amid many indications of sincere sorrow and regret. Deceased, who had attained the ripe old age of seventy-seven years, was greatly esteemed by all who knew her. Her benevolence was unbounded, and by her death the poor of the district have lost a sympathetic and generous friend, while the whole district will miss her influence and ready helpfulness in every deserving cause. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. David Hay. Deceased leaves two sons, who are in the medical profession in London, to mourn her loss (Londonderry Sentinel)

DEATH OF MISS A. CAMPBELL, DONEMANA SEQUEL TO FALL FROM HORSE

The funeral of Miss Arthemise Campbell, daughter of the late Mr. Andrew Patchell Campbell and of Mrs. E. M. Campbell, Black Park, Donemana, took place on Saturday morning, and was very largely attended.

Deceased, who died in the City and County Hospital, Londonderry, as the result of a fall from a horse about six weeks ago, was a very popular figure in the district and was highly esteemed by everyone. Miss Campbell, who was organist at Donagheady Presbyterian Church, was a well-known musician and at one time took a leading part in the Strabane Musical Society’s productions and was for several years a successful competitor at Londonderry Feis.

The chief mourner was Mr. Moore Campbell, auctioneer (brother). The interment took place in Old Donagheady Burying-ground (Londonderry Sentinel)

FUNERAL OF MR. SAMUEL EATON, J. P.

The funeral took place yesterday to Old Donagheady Burying-ground, Tyrone, of Mr. Samuel Eaton, J. P., Ballyneanor, Donemana, the news of whose death on Wednesday night, reported briefly in the last issue of “The Sentinel”, was learned with deep regret throughout his native North Tyrone, with which his family has been long and honourably associated, and the North-West generally……..one of the last survivors of the Londonderry Bridge Commission…….last year the congregation of Donemana Presbyterian Church, in which he was an elder for fifty years, presented him with an illuminated address in recognition of his long and devoted services. He married Miss Jessie Elizabeth Craig, sister of Mr. R. J. Craig, J. P., Donemana, who survives him.

There was a large attendance, representative of all sections of the community, who united to pay the deceased a last tribute. The officiating clergy were Rev. S. Logan, Donemana, and Rev. John Rutherford, B. A., Clerk of Glendermott Presbytery (Londonderry Sentinel)
