FATAL TERMINATION OF AN ACCIDENT. – On Monday, the 13th inst., Mr. William Chambers, a respectable farmer of Kildrum, attended Limavady market for the purpose of disposing of a load of flax, but not satisfied with the price offered, be brought it back unsold. On his return home he was seated on top of the load, and when within a few paces of his own house, he accidently fell to the road where he lay for some time. His son who was with him, having assisted him home, he was attended by Dr Sweeney, Newtowncunningham. Who used all his medical skill to prolong life, but without effect, as death ended his sufferings on Saturday, the 25th. His loss will be deeply felt, not only by his own bereaved family, but by all who knew him, as a kind and obliging neighbour, a staunch and true friend, and a loving and devoted father. The large funeral cortege which followed his remains to the grave in Killea burying-ground, on Monday last, was ample testimony to the above qualities (Derry Journal) December 25, at his residence, Kildrum, William Chambers, aged 54 years (Londonderry Sentinel) |
