DEATHS
Date | Death |
Jul 31 1827 | MANSFIELD. Of a decline, at Castlewray, the seat of her father, Mary, fifth daughter of Francis Mansfield, Esq. (Strabane Morning Post) |
Sep 21 1827 | MANSFIELD. At his seat, Castlewray, county of Donegal, on the morning of the 23rd ult. Francis Mansfield, Esq., in the 67th year of his age. The demise of this highly estimable gentleman, though, from the delicate state of his health, for a considerable time expected, has occassioned the most unaffected regret in all ranks, not only in his immediate neighbourhood, but throughout the county in which he so long acted a leading part --- In all the relations of life he was exemplary; in the family, in the social circle, no less so, than as a Magistrate, a landlord, and the representative of several 202 extensive proprietaries. He was decided foe of knavery in all its modifications, but in him the industrious poor always experienced a steady friend, who patiently entered into all their difficulties. Embalmed by the virtues of a well spent life, his memory will live, when that of others who had perhaps equal opportunities of being useful to their kind, will be whelmed in oblivion. (Strabane Morning Post) |
