A Return of the Number of Coroners Inquests held in Co. Tyrone for the year 1841

The coroner for all the following named, was Joseph ORR. Dr. Henry KING was also a coroner at this time.

3 Jan. - Catherine McCRERY, Omagh, -that she threw herself into the river at Omagh on the 16th Nov.1840 and was then and there drowned.

9 Jan. - James CAVANAGH, Greenlaw -that he perished in the storm on the night of the 7th instant in said townland.

2 Feb. - Mary COULTER, Aughadarra - that she died from a gun shot wound discharged accidentally by Samuel SPROUTT and his nephew, a child two years old.

7 Feb. - Abraham EAGAR, Largybeg - that he came to his death in the townland of Baronscourt from the rupture of a blood vessel.

7 Feb. - Margaret, Mary, and Sarah McGINLEY, (3 bodies) , Tievenny - that they came to their deaths in said townland from accidental burning.

14 Feb. - William PICKINGTON, Grange ,- that he was found drowned in said townland on the evening of the 13th, supposed in a fit of epilepsy.

20 Feb. - Bridget DEERY, Larnagar,- that she was killed on the 18th, by the house in which she slept falling in on her.

26 Mar. - Ann Jane WEST, Gortmore, - that she came to her death on the night of the 25th or morning of the 26th by suffocation.

23 Apr. - Robert JOHNSTON, Ardbaoran, -that he committed suicide by cutting his throat being in a state of temporary derangement.

21 Apr. - Catherine O'NEILL, Strabane, -that in consequence of violence inflicted by her daughter on the 15th instant she lingered until the 19th and then died.

22 Apr. - Joseph STEEN, Leskinore, -that he died on the 21st instant in said townland suddenly from apoplexy.

28 Apr. - Francis ELLIS, Dromore, - that he came to his death on the 20th instant Aughnamoe by drowning, supposed accidentally.

1 May - Samuel HAMILTON, Dromore, -that on the 29th instant he came to his death by a bin of potatoes falling on him.

6 May - John BARNER, Beagh, - that he perished on the night of the 5th instant in said townland from fatigue and cold.

11 May - William McLAUGHLIN, Carnonry, - that he died on the 10th instant in said townland from the effects of intemperance and neglect of medical aid and from the violence inflicted by Thomas McEHILL.

17 May - Ann Eliza OLIVER, Derrycreevy, - that she was drowned in said townland on morning of the 15th May accidentally.

24 May - John HAGNEY, Fintona, - that he died in the townland of Ednasop (?) by the visitation of God.

22 Jun. - Jane GORDON, Tallyard , - that she died in said townland suddenly in a fit of apoplexy by the visitation of God.

18 Jul. - John HAMILTON, Ballyness, that deceased was found drowned in the river in said townland in the evening of the 17th

14 Aug. - James McCORMICK, Kilkleen, -that he died on 13th Aug. in said townland from the effects of a dose of poison being in a state of derangement.

22 and 24 Aug. - Jane DEERY, Gibnascale and Strabane, - that she died on the 21st instant in said townland from disease of the head and not from the abuse inflicted by Sally KEAN.

23 Aug. - John McDERMOTT, Lisanedin, -that he was drowned on the 20th instant in the river in said townland accidentally while endeavouring to save hay from the flood.

7 Sept.- Hamilton GILES, Killydroy, - that he died on the 6th inst. from violence inflicted by Robert MONTEITH, James McELDUFF, John McCALLIN, and Bryan CAMPBELL of Roscary, aided and assisted by Scott MONTEITH and James DOORISH.

27 Sept. and 6 Oct. - Mary McNAMARA, Strabane, that she was found drowned in the canal near Strabane on the morning of the 26th instant supposed to have been thrown in by Samuel DONNELLY.

29 Sept. and 12 Oct. 9 - James JORDAN, Dolbin, -that he died on the 28th instant in said townland, from inflammation of the bowels, supposed to have been poisoned by saltpetre.

2 Oct.- James McSWINE, NewtownStewart, - that he died from fever and not from the blow of a stone by McIRIE.

9 Oct. - Andrew WILSON, Rathwarren - that he drowned accidentally on the 8th instant in the said townland.

21 Oct. - Andrew TULLERTON, Lesanelly , - that he died suddenly on the morning of the 21st in said townland supposed from the rupture of a blood vessel in the lungs.

10 Nov. - John HAMILTON, Killeter, that he died on the 8th Nov. in consequence of injury inflicted on his head by Bernard McBRIDE.

23 Nov. - Nancy McWILLIAMS Brook st., that she was found dead in her bed on Sunday morning the 21st instant in said townland.

26 Nov. - Robert BARNS, Omagh gaol, - that he died a natural death on the morning of the 25th Nov.in Omagh gaol.

1 Dec.- Ann McQUADE, Drumquin, - that she died on the night of the 9th or the morning of the 10th. in the townland of Mullaghann from cold, fatigue and want of food.

15 Dec. - James McGLINN, Omagh gaol, that he died on the evening of the 14th instant in Omagh gaol by the visitation of God

18 Dec. - George EWINGS Omagh Gaol, -that on the morning of the 17th Dec. 1841, he died in the gaol of Omagh from the effects of epileptic fits.

20 Dec. - Patrick McGILLEY, Cloghfin, , - that he perished on the night of Friday or morning of Sat. in said townland from fatigue and cold.

28 Dec. - Mary BARNHILL, NewtownStewart, - that the deceased died a natural death on the night of the 2Ist Dec. in the coach travelling from Derry to NewtownStewart but the jury are of the opinion it was hastened by her removal from the asylum, being then in a very weak state.
